Leaving your child alone

alone child Working couples often do the mistake of leaving the child alone at home thinking that few hours is not a big deal but that few hours can turn into a worst nightmare. The alone child is exposed to lots of things at home and knows no bound of playing with them, as three is no one to restrict him. The various hazards that can occur are.

  • Leaking of gas cylinder at home and later on it can be a serious fire tragedy
  • Coming across with livewire
  • Playing in water tub
  • Falling from a height
  • Inviting strangers to home
  • Swallowing of unhygienic non-eatable items
  • Accident from electronic appliances like Room Heater, Geyser, Washing machine, Immersion Heater, micro oven etc.
Children shows the symptoms vomiting and headache after few hours of play so if by that time you are not yet reached at home then they tend to fall sick which unnecessary consumes your time. Some think that if the child is left at home with other kids of neighbor then that will be safe but in maximum case that is the most gruesome decision because this crowd is more playful than the lonely one. The lonely atmosphere never inspires a kid to be studious or to concentrate on creative things so to pass time he does the things which is destructive.

Parents should leave the child alone at home when situation is such erratic and demands both of them to go out. They should always limit this period to few hours and take proper precautions before going out. The homework for this purpose should be

  • Switch off all the major electronic appliances such as Immersion Heater, Geyser, Room Heater etc, (Refrigerator is not required)
  • Tighten up all the water taps. But keep sufficient drinking water in a bottle & glass beside him.
  • Keep light snacks and fruits (which will not cause indigestion) beside him.
  • Take off the connection of Gas cylinder to the stove.
  • Keep all the sharp instruments such as blade, knives, and needles etc. from the reach of the child.
  • Put a lock from outside as if it feels that no one is home.
  • Keep the window of the room of the child(Where he spends maximum time) for proper ventilation.
  • Instruct him not to climb on any items such as chairs tables etc.
  • If you are getting late keep calling him over phone.
By these steps the child can be safe alone for few hours but it is advisable not to repeat such situations.
