Prevent Spam Calls to Your Mobile Phone
Register your phone with the National Do Not Call Registry to avoid receiving unwanted telemarketing phone calls.
Have you ever been disrupted by an unwanted call from a marketer when you are watching your favorite TV show or late in the night when you are sleeping?
If so, you’re not alone.
Your first step to prevent this harassment is to register your cell phone number with the FCC's Do-Not-Call Registry.
When you've registered callers may only call you when they
- do not call commercially or do not include unsolicited advertisements,
- have you prior written permission,
- have established a business relationship with you.
You may register their residential and wireless telephone, by Internet or by telephone for free.
In addition to the Do-Not-Call Registry the caller id may also reduce the number of spam calls to your telephone.
With the caller id you should know who is is calling you] because they must transmit caller id information and do not allowed to block their numbers.
When you register your phone number with the FCC unsolicited telephone calls to your home before 8 am or after 9 pm are not allowed.
Callers have to provide you with these additional information which will also lowered spam calls to your telephone:
- A telephone number or address at which you may contact that entity.
- The Caller also must provide you the name of the entity on whose behalf the call is being made.
- Anyone making a telephone solicitation call to your telephone must provide his/her name.
You can register your phone number for free. Your phone number will remain for five years on the national do-not-call list. You may re-enter your number after five years, and you may remove your phone number from the list at any time.
